What Matters to Masten,

Matters to Zeneta.

  • A Place to call home

Masten needs more people putting down roots, and Zeneta knows firsthand that housing affordability and a path toward homeownership isn’t straightforward. The only way to build back Masten is to build UP Masten, by investing in its people. Since being elected, she has worked with city and state officials to prioritize access to resources for those navigating the home buying process, and developed a long-term plan to bring people home to Masten. Including steering the infill housing process, getting renters access to homes, assisting residents with credit repair, and supporting home repair programs. A place to call home is more than a house. Its about the quality of life for residents which Zeneta is focused on. Whether it’s the annual district wide community clean up she organizes, supporting block club projects, implementing her east of main clean streets program or Maten’s Rooted in the Park Farmer’s Market, Zeneta is making sure that all of the needs of the community are being taken care of.

  • Bridging the Gaps

Too many disparities continue to persist right now within Buffalo - whether that’s racial injustices, a lack of access to fresh food, or simply the absence of a woman’s - and mother’s - voice on the Buffalo Common Council. In her role as Council Woman her first piece of legislation was to establish the first ever Office of Gun Violence & Prevention. She has created resource guides for youth and families connecting them with critical services and resources. As well as a resource guide book for women which includes information for women experiencing domestic violence. Healthcare is also at the forefront of her work. She has ensured that young people are getting their physicals and immunizations, provided opportunities for women to get their mammograms, and provided teeth cleaning services for families. Zeneta has worked hard to bridge gaps, and since being elected, she has continued to fight for equity across the board.

  • Investing in Education

The best investment we can make is in our children, and preparing the next generation of leaders takes time and resources. Zeneta is a strong supporter of public schools, and believes programs like Say Yes Buffalo are truly creating new opportunities for students across the city. Since being elected, she has worked to engage families and students to increase participation in this program and improve educational outcomes. She has worked with the Buffalo Public School District to create their strategic plan, assisted in re-shaping the suspension policy, financially supports youth programs, and distributes books across the Western New York area. Zeneta has secured significant funding to rehab a a building that has sat vacant for decades. This building currently under construction will serve as a community hub. She is also working on acquiring a school building where youth programming will be available seven days a week.
